Show, don’t tell

Don’t send slides. Have the link built.

Marco already had two offers for a new website. Both came as a PDF of slides: concept, target group, colour palette, a grey box reading “Your homepage goes here”. Marco closed both and never opened them again. Then he came to us, and we did it differently.

Not a slide, the real page: scrollable, tappable, changeable on the spot. Marco opened it on his phone.

Marco runs a landscaping business, let’s call it that. He is outside all day and reads on his phone in the evening. A deck of slides about his future website tells him nothing, because a slide is not what he wants to buy. He wants the website. Nobody orders a house by pointing at the drawing of a door.

What we sent instead

We didn’t send Marco a proposal. We sent his finished homepage. A real web page, not a picture of one. A link he could open on his phone: his company name at the top, his services, real photos of his gardens, a “Request a quote” button that actually works. To scroll, to tap, to look at over the kitchen table.

He opened the link over lunch. He called back that afternoon.

Between “interesting, I’ll think about it” and “yes, let’s do it”, the slides put weeks. The link put a few hours.

The catch, and why it was good for Marco

Marco had something to criticise right away on the phone. The green was too loud for him, and one photo showed a garden that wasn’t his. With a slide deck that means: note the feedback, revise, next meeting.

Because it was a real web page and not a picture, we swapped the green and the photo while he was on the phone. He reloaded and saw his page, not our idea of his page. How we put a real, finished preview up that fast is our business. For Marco, all that mattered was that he could touch it before he said yes.

Why a slide almost always flatters

On a slide every project looks good. Placeholder text, stock images, nothing has to work. That is exactly why we don’t send them. A real page can’t flatter: if the text runs over, you see it, if a button doesn’t work, you notice when you tap it. You are not buying an idea of your website. You have already touched it before you decide.

How we work A real preview, not a PDF

Instead of a concept, you get a real, clickable preview of your new website from us. You open it on your phone, scroll through, tap the buttons. Whatever you don’t like, we change on the real page, not in a new presentation.

You decide only once you have the thing in front of you. Send us your current website or your company name, and we will put a preview up for you.

Marco’s site is online today, with the green he wanted and his own gardens. He never read a concept. He opened a link we built for him, and that was enough.
